Myers & Co has strengthened its residential conveyancing team with the appointment of solicitor Jess Latham, as demand for property services continues across Staffordshire and the wider region.

Jess brings a broad legal background to the role, having previously practised across family law, civil litigation, landlord and tenant matters, and criminal law, before choosing to specialise in property. Her work now focuses on supporting clients through home purchases and sales, as well as advising on buy-to-let properties, equity transfers, and sales and transfers connected to divorce proceedings.

She completed her law degree and Legal Practice Course at Staffordshire University, where her advocacy skills led to her selection to represent England at the International Criminal Court Moot Competition in The Hague in 2019. Jess trained at another Stoke-on-Trent firm and qualified as a solicitor in 2022.

Tim Newsome, managing director of Myers & Co, said:

“Jess has fitted straight into our busy conveyancing team.

“She’s enthusiastic and has broad experience of more complex transactions, which is of real assistance to our clients.

“We brought Jess on board as the buoyancy of the property market means there is continued demand for conveyancing, and we are currently expecting this to carry on well into 2026.”

Established in 2005, Myers & Co employs nearly 50 staff and advises clients across Staffordshire and the wider West Midlands. The firm is a full-service practice, with expertise spanning dispute resolution, corporate and commercial law, residential and commercial property, civil litigation, employment law, family law, and private client services including wills, powers of attorney, Court of Protection and legacy arrangements.

The firm is part of MAPD Group, founded in 2020 by Brian Cullen and Joanna Kingston-Davies to support the growth of local law firms through acquisition. MAPD stands for Making a Positive Difference.

Jess said:

“Everyone has been so welcoming and I am excited to join the team at Myers and look forward to developing in my profession and growing within the practice.

“Myers is a well-known firm in the area with a great reputation, and being part of the MAPD Group environment has strengthened the value that the practice can offer to the local and wider community.

“I am excited to be playing my part in making a positive difference to our client base.”
