We’re confident that children of all ages will find something they enjoy during the sessions, as well as making the most of the exciting and varied play spaces Hockerhill holds both inside and outside.”

Sophie Galantini, General Manager at Hockerhill

Owned and managed by the Chillington Hall Estate, Hockerhill is designed by Creating Adventurous Places (CAP.Co), the award winning play creators. The popular attraction takes inspiration from the estate’s history, featuring a giant mock oak tree modelled on the one that King Charles II hid in as he fled the Battle of Worcester.

Explorers can climb the trunk of the tree before heading along high level walkways, crossing bridges, slipping down slides and setting their fastest lap times on the pedal go kart track, which starts indoors and continues outside along a winding circuit.

The spacious outdoor area is ideal for spring sunshine, offering zip lines, swings for all ages, slides and a sand pit. There is also ample outdoor seating where guests can relax and enjoy food and refreshments from the award winning Hockerhill café.

From the new spring menu, visitors can enjoy Superfood Granola served with Greek yoghurt, fresh berries and honey, Smashed Avocado on Toast and Full English breakfasts. Light bites include sandwiches and warming paninis, alongside juicy burgers with beef, chicken and vegetarian options, and hand rolled sourdough pizzas.

“Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast or a light lunch to fuel your family, Hockerhill’s café has options for everyone, including those with intolerances and allergies. One of our proudest achievements is winning ‘Best Food and Beverage of the Year’ award at the recent National Farm Attractions Awards and we’re grateful to be recognised for our nourishing food, top quality coffee and wide range of choice.”

Charlie and Tessa Giffard are the 30th generation of Giffards to inhabit Chillington Hall, as they strive to preserve the best of the past, capturing the beauty and grace of another era yet modernising the estate and serving the diverse needs of the local community.

First and foremost a family home in the heart of Staffordshire, it is open on selected days through the year and hosts a rich programme of events such as guided walks, private dining and group tours.

Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn is the estate’s latest venture. Inspired by its rich history, where King Charles II hid in the oak tree at Boscobel House to escape the hands of Oliver Cromwell at the Battle of Worcester, Hockerhill features a mock oak tree in the heart of the playbarn.

It includes a central turret for children to explore the many bridges, high level walkways, tunnels, slides and rope equipment that awaits them, as well as a pedal go kart track for thrill seekers.
